Supermarine Seafire MB288 - 03/101943.
- On the 3rd October 1943 Supermarine Seafire No MB288 of No 791
squadron whilst approaching the airfield spun in and crashed south of the
airfield, the aircraft was
being flown by Sub Lieutenant (A) E. R. Almond R.N.V.R.
- Sub Lieutenant (A) Almond's grave.

Sub Lieutenant (A) Eric Roy Almond aged 20, was the son of William and Norah
Kathleen Almond, of Lytham and is buried in Lytham churchyard Row 18, Grave
3. Sub Lieutenant (A) Almond was educated at Charney Hall, Grange-over-Sands
and later at Shrewsbury School, he lived in Lytham from 1929 to 1939
then went to Blackburn returning early in 1942. He joined the forces
in February 1942 and trained in Canada for a year.
