Blackburn Roc L3119 - 29/06/1942.
On the 29th June 1942 Blackburn Roc No L3119 of No 776 squadron suffered a suspected engine failure and had to carry out a forced landing in the sand dunes at the Ainsdale Anti Aircraft Gun range killing both of the crew, the aircraft was being flown by Sub Lieutenant J. A. Willcox and his crewman was Leading Airman W. R . Graham.
Sub Lieutenant John Anthony Willcox aged 22 was the son of Frank and Gertrude Winifred Willcox, and the husband of Nina Winifred Willcox, of Boscombe, Bournemouth. He is buried in Bournemouth North Cemetery, Hampshire, Row 94, Grave 93.
Leading Airman William Ross Graham aged 30, was the son of
John Thomas Graham and Catherine Hunter Graham, of Seaham and the husband of
Edith L. Graham, of Seaham. He is buried in Seaham Cemetery. Durham.
